Working with Herefordshire Council & Talk Community

Delivery Partners:Let’s Do Business Group, Let’s Do Marketing, Supersonic Start Up
Programme Duration:January – March 2025
Programme Format:Workshops and one-to-one mentoring

Between January and March 2025, Let’s Do Marketing partnered with Let’s Do Business Group and Supersonic Start Up to deliver a strategic support programme commissioned by Herefordshire Council and Talk Community.

The initiative was designed to provide the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector across Herefordshire with practical training and guidance to help them grow sustainably and increase their community impact.

The 10-week programme combined interactive workshops with tailored one-to-one support, giving participants the opportunity to develop essential business and marketing skills while applying them directly to their organisations.

The Challenge

Many VCSE organisations operate with limited resources and small teams, often relying on volunteers. While their community impact is significant, organisations frequently face challenges such as:

  • Limited marketing capacity and expertise

  • Difficulty communicating their impact and value

  • Low confidence in digital marketing tools

  • Inconsistent social media and online presence

  • Limited knowledge of how marketing supports funding and growth

To remain sustainable and expand their reach, these organisations needed accessible, practical marketing guidance tailored to the realities of the VCSE sector.

Our Approach

marketing support for the VCSE Sector

Let’s Do Marketing delivered a series of workshops focused on helping organisations build clear, practical marketing strategies that could be implemented immediately, even with limited time and resources.

The sessions focused on demystifying marketing and showing VCSE leaders how simple, consistent activity can significantly increase awareness, engagement and funding opportunities.

Key workshop topics included:

  • Marketing strategy for VCSE organisations

  • Building an effective social media presence

  • Using email marketing to nurture audiences

  • SEO and improving online visibility

Each workshop was designed to be highly practical, combining guidance with real examples, discussion and actionable exercises. Participants left with tools, templates and ideas they could apply directly within their organisations.

Tailored Support Through Mentoring

Alongside group workshops, Let’s Do Marketing supported the programme’s one-to-one mentoring offer. These sessions allowed organisations to receive personalised advice based on their specific goals and challenges.

Mentoring topics included:

  • Reviewing existing marketing activity

  • Improving social media consistency

  • Clarifying messaging and target audiences

  • Identifying low-cost marketing opportunities

This personalised support helped participants translate workshop learning into tangible actions for their organisations.

Programme Impact

Across the 10-week programme:

  • 13 workshops were delivered across the partnership

  • 89 participants attended sessions

  • 12 hours of one-to-one mentoring provided tailored guidance

For many organisations, the programme helped shift perceptions of marketing from something complex or expensive into a practical tool for community engagement and sustainability.
