Case Study: Kootek Consulting
How Kootek Consulting turned marketing insight into growth through the Luton Online: Digital Marketing Launchpad
Delivering tailored technology solutions that drive business success, Kootek consulting is a dynamic and innovative IT consultancy firm that provides managed security services for businesses across a range of sectors. The company helps organisations protect their digital environments, respond to cyber threats and manage risk in an increasingly complex online landscape.
Looking to strengthen Kootek Consulting's online presence, founder Kevin Umeano joined the Luton Online: Digital Marketing Launchpad to develop his digital marketing skills and reach more prospective customers.
Delivered by Let's Do Marketing, the Luton Online: Digital Marketing Launchpad provided fully funded digital marketing training, workshops and one-to-one mentoring to help Luton businesses build their online presence and grow their confidence in marketing.
The background
After completing a master’s in applied computing and information technology at the University of Bedfordshire, Kevin’s passion for cybersecurity led him into a few information security roles across a range of sectors. It was this wealth of experience that inspired him to establish Kootek Consulting, where he and his team now help organisations access tailored cybersecurity solutions, managed security services, and ongoing security training.
The Challenge
While the Kootek Consulting team have extensive technical experience, Kevin recognised that growing a business also required stronger marketing skills. Looking to build Kootek Consulting’s online presence, he attended in person workshops as part of the Luton Online: Digital Marketing Launchpad.
"We covered LinkedIn and other marketing channels. Stacey shared her presentation afterwards, and I went back through it and started applying some of the techniques she'd shown us. Kootek Consulting currently have over 2,000 high profile professional connections with up to 2,500 active followers and over 500 newsletter subscribers on LinkedIn.”
These workshops, run by Stacey and Kerry from Let’s Do Marketing, covered a range of practical digital marketing topics such as getting your business found online, creating content with Canva, developing a marketing strategy and an introduction to social media marketing. These practical sessions provided simple techniques that he was able to implement straight away.
Putting those ideas shared by Stacey and Kerry into practice had an immediate impact on the business's online presence.
“We’ve genuinely seen an increase in engagement with our prospects and connections on LinkedIn. We also expanded our presence onto Facebook, BlueSky, Instagram, X(Twitter) and that’s been really helpful too.”
For Kevin, the value of the workshops lay in their practical, actionable advice. By applying the techniques learned, Kootek Consulting has strengthened its digital presence, expanding its reach across social media whilst continuing to build meaningful connections with prospective clients.
Looking ahead
Following the Luton Online: Digital Marketing Launchpad, Kootek Consulting continues to build on the skills and confidence gained through the programme.
“We’re looking to expand because our aim is to onboard more customers so we can help them manage their IT environments more effectively.”
With a stronger digital marketing foundation in place, Kevin is focused on growing the business by reaching more customers and expanding Kootek Consulting's managed security services. As the business continues to develop, he hopes to grow the team, broaden the companies reach and continue to apply the practical marketing techniques he learned through the programme.
